Storm Hudson hits Branch IFAA's at Tuggerah

Namoi Valley Archers sent a 7 member team to the Northern NSW Branch IFAA Championships held at Tuggerah Lakes over the weekend. The Tuggerah layout is one of the best in the country and competitors shot in perfect weather conditions. Wade Hudson won the Bowhunter Compound division after a titanic battle with Maitland’s Rob Slater. Hudson was 13 points adrift of Slater after the first round but showing the class and mental toughness that he is renowned for he turned in a sensational second round to forge to the front and win by 5 points. This was the final tournament for Hudson before he travels to Argentina in October to represent Australia at the 2012 World IFAA Championships and such a close contest will stand Hudson in good stead for the upcoming event. Karen Hudson won the Womens Bowhunter Compound A grade event finishing 43 points in front of her nearest competitor with Ann Stubbs taking the bronze in the B grade section. In a great weekend for the Hudson clan, Darrell Hudson scored a very convincing win in the Bowhunter Recurve division setting up the win with a great first round with another Gunnedah archer, Peter Stubbs, taking the silver. Mark Stevenson claimed the gold in Freestlye Limited Recurve while Denise Stevenson also claimed gold in Freestyle Limited Compound to round out the medal haul. The second competition round of the PCYC Indoor series is on starting at 6.30pm. 11. The regular PCYC archery activities will resume on October 11th.
