IFAA State Titles

NSW State 2006 IFAA Namoi Valley Archers

Namoi Valley Archers hosted the State IFAA Titles last weekend at the Wondobah Range. Eighty four archers competed, posting both good and bad scores.

Jodi Dolbel was the standout archer of the weekend posting two personal best scores in a row to take out the Women Freestyle division, Jodi now carries National and State titles for this style of archery and if she carrries her recent form to the world titles in a couple of weeks it should place her in a good position for global recognition.

Sam Bates shot well and narrowly missed first place in the Mens Freestyle division proving the Apex7 as a dominant bow for target archery. Greg Donovan also shot well to win his division, Greg has improved greatly over the last few months and should make for some stiff competition in the future.

Australian IFAA Team member Steve Jaeger also shot well showing national sellectors they have made the right decision in sellecting him over long time Australian team member Randall Wellings for the up and comming world titles next month.

Wade Hudson shot well to take out the Junior Bowhunter division and must be a favorite for this division at the worlds.

Nominations for the World Titles have been estimated at 560+ competitors with entries from Canada, USA, New Zealand and Europe, ensuring that the best of the best will be there to compete in this prestigious event.

IFAA Field Round Practice

A small field of thirty two archers completed a 14 target IFAA Field round this weekend in practise for the State IFAA competition to be held at the Namoi Valley range next weekend. Scores were generally down a fraction on what everyone was hoping for but the day was used to fine tune gear for the two major shoots coming up.

Scores will not go towards the annual club total scores.

3 Arrow Round

Forty eight archery took to the range for a 3 arrow all count club round last weekend, a good role up of juniors and cubs saw 29 kids on the range further testement to the enjoyment kids and adults alike get from this growing sport. The three arrow round is a twenty ABA target round with each arrow scoring, 20 - Kill, 15 - wound and 10 points for a hit, making the round worth up to 1200 points. Ben Ireland was in blistering form after he recent success at the Nationals, Ben had only scored three wounds up until target 13 all his other arrows had been perfectly placed in the kill zone, by the end of the round Ben had set a new club record and only placed 6 arrows in the wound out of 60. Cassie Neuendorf, Ben's soon to be wife, was also on fire, must be that Moonbi water, after some tinkering with her setup through the week Cassie smashed the old club record and the competition posting a new personal best in the process.
